State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has reportedly concluded the installation of solar power panels at Alif Alif atoll Bodufulhadhoo powerhouse.
In addition to this, the utility provider recently confirmed completing the installation of electricity cables in the picnic island of Kudagiri in Male’ atoll. STELCO installed a total of 3,000 meters of electrical cables under the project.
The solar power panel installation in Bodufulhadhoo powerhouse falls under the state administration’s pledge on reducing fuel-dependency for electricity production and the subsequent promotion of renewable energy resources in the Maldives.
STELCO has recently affirmed its commitment towards increasing renewable energy options across the island nation, and had announced on the planned installation of solar power panels in Male’ City capable of harnessing two MegaWatts of energy.
The news was formally attested by the current Managing Director of STELCO Mr. Ahmed Shareef.
Shareef had also discussed in great detail about STELCO’s ongoing initiatives to reduce fuel dependency in the energy industry while opting for more eco-friendly alternatives.
Moreover, the utility provider has been at the forefront of providing energy solutions for the Maldivian public which has now extended to recreational islands with its initiative of power installation in Kudagiri.
In addition to the installation of electrical cables, STELCO is contracted with the installation of street lights and electricity distribution networks in the picnic island to enhance visitor experiences. STELCO had concluded installation of the distribution network back on 26th May.
Meanwhile, STELCO’s renewable energy initiative will extend to the picnic island as well with ongoing surveys by the utility provider to assess integration of renewable energy resources in the island.
