State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has filed an official case with the Maldives Police Service regarding its recent ransomware attack.
The utility provider has requested from the local law enforcement department to investigate the recent attack on STELCO’s servers that rendered several of the utility provider’s services in limbo.
STELCO got hit with the ransomware attack on Thursday, previous week, which resulted in service interruptions observed in the company’s official website, mobile applications, and their mobile outlets.
Meanwhile, STELCO notified that the utility provider was currently working on resolving the issue while adding that they will require significant time to completely fix the matter.
Furthermore, STELCO has acquired government assistance and support of other relevant authorities to arrive at a sufficient solution.
STELCO affirmed that their determination to provide services to consumer base despite the challenges will remain unhindered. The utility provider had further noted that it was taking all necessary steps to ensure similar situations do not arise in future.
