State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) Managing Director Mr. Ahmed Shareef, last week made strong emphasis on a new effort to provide customer ease.
According to the state-owned utility company’s front man, the new effort will formulate a systematic approach towards waiving off overdue bills, that have been incurred without the consumers’ control over it.
Earlier, the STELCO front man initiated an extensive research into the utility provider to assess areas in need of drastic or gradual improvement, and had discovered the necessity for structural and organizational ‘tweaking.’
Mr. Shareef in his comments acknowledged the high working standard and ethics, but added that there was always room for improvement.
He also identified that one area that was in need of improvement was the outstanding bill payment issues and hindrances.
“If consumers are fined for issues that are not under their control when settling utility bills, or they were not made privy to the fines or conditions that may lead to it, so we need a policy that would protect the rights of those who are being fined unduly,” Mr. Shareef commented.
Another area of improvement that the STELCO front man identified was to omit usage of outdated application forms.
