State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has confirmed that the company’s latest electricity network upgrade project has drawn close to completion.
The utility provider initiated a network upgrade project on the island of Thoddoo, Alif Alif Atoll. STELCO will upgrade the island’s electricity distribution grid with the installation of 2,279 meters of low-voltage cables.
Furthermore, STELCO confirms that the cable installation, as well as the entire network upgrade project, will be completed sometime on Monday, 07th March 2022.
Meanwhile, the utility provider has commenced official works of installing an upgraded powerhouse unit with the capacity of producing 5 mega-Watts of electricity instead of its current 810 kilo-Watts. STELCO decided on the upgrade after evaluating the growth and development the island has observed over the recent years, as well as envisioning the prospective progress the island will continue to make.
