Muli, Meemu Atoll – In a significant move to strengthen healthcare services in the Mulaku Atoll, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially inaugurated the construction of a new building for the Muli Regional Hospital. The launch ceremony was held today on Muli Island.
During the event, President Muizzu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advancing the hospital’s development, noting its importance in meeting the growing healthcare needs of the region.
The project envisions a state-of-the-art, four-story hospital facility equipped with advanced medical technology and expanded services. The new structure aims to modernize and significantly upgrade the existing infrastructure, improving the overall quality and accessibility of healthcare for residents.
The construction contract has been awarded to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), with a targeted completion timeline of 780 days. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-2027.
The initiative is part of the Government’s broader strategy to enhance public health infrastructure across the country and ensure equitable access to modern healthcare services. Once completed, the new Muli Regional Hospital building is expected to serve as a key healthcare hub for the atoll, contributing to a higher standard of medical care in the region.
