Kulhudhuffushi City, Maldives — First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed has underscored the vital importance of a nation’s health — encompassing physical, mental, and spiritual well-being — as the cornerstone of its development.
She made the remarks during the 43rd anniversary celebrations of Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, held this evening at Kulhudhuffushi Ports Limited.
Addressing the gathering, the First Lady stressed the significance of providing accessible and high-quality healthcare services to the Kulhudhuffushi region. She also highlighted the transformative impact of technological advancements in the healthcare sector, describing President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s “Maldives 2.0” initiative as a pivotal step in revolutionising the country’s healthcare system.
As part of the ceremony, several key healthcare services were officially launched at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital. The First Lady inaugurated the hospital’s new telemedicine service and its endometriosis clinic, expanding specialist care for women’s health. Additionally, the Director General of Health Services, Dr Ahmed Ashraf, opened a new clinic dedicated to the management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
The event also celebrated the contributions of individuals and organisations that have supported the hospital’s growth over the years. Retired staff members were honoured with commemorative plaques, and employees were recognised for their exceptional service with awards marking achievements in outstanding performance and service milestones of 10, 20, and 30 years. All awards and plaques were personally presented by the First Lady.
Earlier in the day, the First Lady toured Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, inspected its facilities, and met with staff members to learn about their work and challenges.
The anniversary celebration highlighted the hospital’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare delivery in the northern region of the Maldives, reflecting national efforts to build a healthier, more resilient society.
