Three newly appointed ambassadors have called on Foreign Minister Iruthisam Adam. Each envoy met the Minister after presenting credentials to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The visits covered France, the Netherlands, and the Philippines. The series of Maldives foreign minister courtesy calls signalled fresh diplomatic momentum.

    France looks to deepen ties

France’s Non-Resident Ambassador, Rémi Lambert, met the Minister first. Iruthisham welcomed Lambert and congratulated him on presenting his credentials. The Ambassador thanked the government for its warm reception. Both sides reviewed the long history between the two countries. They discussed ways to widen cooperation in areas of shared interest. The Minister voiced confidence that Lambert’s term would deepen relations. She wished him success on the role.

    Netherlands eyes broad cooperation

Non-Resident Ambassador Wiebe Jakob De Boer of the Netherlands followed. The Minister congratulated him on presenting his credentials to the President. De Boer thanked Iruthisham for the welcome. Talks centered on the long-standing ties between the two nations. Both sides highlighted education, tourism, environment, and economic development. They explored fresh ways to strengthen engagement across several sectors.

    Philippines envoy receives condolences

Philippine Ambassador Nina P. Cainglet also met with the Minister after presenting her credentials. Iruthisham congratulated Cainglet on her appointment. The Minister conveyed condolences to the government and people of the Philippines. She referenced the recent earthquake off the coast of Mindanao, which claimed lives and caused destruction, and expressed hope for a swift recovery. Both sides discussed ways to strengthen close bilateral relations. They reaffirmed a commitment to a strong partnership through bilateral and multilateral channels.
