    Housing Development Corporation (HDC) announces new CSR opportunity for interested parties to develop ‘pocket parks’ across Hulhumale’.

    In a statement released by HDC, it had noted that the initiative comes as part of developing the satellite town that offers a “dynamic environment where residents can interact through open spaces.” Safe and accessible open spaces remain a key development focus in the design of Hulhumale’ as per HDC.

    Under the ‘Pocket Park’ initiative, miniature parks will be erected in specific areas of Hulhumale’ Phase I which will “provide interactive and digital features for resident’s use.”

    Moreover, these open spaces can be utilized by users in a variety of ways from meeting friends, eating out, taking breaks from shopping or to unwind and relax.

    HDC further stated that through the initiative, “neglected and blighted areas” will be revitalized into more usable spaces.

    “We have a total of 9 pocket parks in different areas of Phase I. These parks will have benches, commercial kiosk space, children’s play sets, bike pathways, Wi-Fi and charging stations among many other features. Each individual pocket park has different design concepts, depending on its size,” the press statement from HDC read.

    HDC is seeking interested parties including individual contractors, businesses or organizations to develop these locations into pocket parks. The areas for the development of the 9 pocket parks include;

    • Traffic Park (B4-1) – 1391 square meters
    • D2-7 (H) – 1361 square meters
    • N2-12 (G) – 391 square meters
    • Smart Park (E&F) – 978 square meters
    • Green Parks near Raw Houses (N1-43, N1-46, N1-49, N1-52) – 856 square meters
