Following State Electric Company’s (STELCO) decision to cut power to Football Association of Maldives (FAM) on Monday, 24th October, the utility provider has urged the association to settle the outstanding dues in full. STELCO Managing Director Ahmed Shareef, while criticizing FAM’s decision to counter the utility provider’s decision with defiance, urged to settle the dues without politicizing the issue. Avid College and the University of West London have partnered to offer academic courses through the college. Signing between the parties took place on Monday, 24th October. Avid College’s Chairman Abdulla Mushtaq Rashad signed on behalf of the college while the Vice Chancellor of University of West London Professor Peter John signed on behalf of the university. Under the agreement, Avid College is gearing up to launch three academic courses which includes two Bachelor’s Degree courses and one Master’s Degree course. The leaky pipe situated at outer main road of Male’ City, near STELCO power station, has been fixed. The utility provider confirmed this on Monday evening, and notes the road will be opened for public transportation soon. STELCO required to dig through the asphalt to repair the leakage. The pipe, one among several of the outflow pipes used by STELCO as part of its engine cooling mechanism ruptured a few days earlier. Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) reports the harbor development project at Sh. Lhaimagu is currently underway, with overall 62% project completion. Moreover, the road development project in HA. Hoarafushi is also well underway, with overall 57% project completion. Luxury travel company Kuoni analyzed over 445 TikTok hashtags to reveal the current trending honeymoon destinations. The Maldives, Italy and Bali, Indonesia were among the world’s top trending honeymoon locations with almost 10 million views combined. The island nation archipelago famous for its crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches topped the list with 3.5 million views under the hashtag #MaldivesHoneymoon. The hashtag showcased private water villas, fine dining on the beach and top-rated spas on offer in the Maldives.

As per Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB), the state owned enterprises (SOEs) in Maldives generated a collective income of MVR 10 billion for 2022 first quarter. According to PCB, which oversees SOEs under the Ministry of Finance, 31 companies posted a total income of MVR10.27 billion during the review quarter. This is a 54% increment compared to the corresponding quarter in 2021. The largest SOE in the Maldives, State Trading Organization (STO) registered the highest income at MVR4.04 billion during the review quarter.
