Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has signed on an agreement with the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (MNPHI) for two large-scale developmental projects. According to the contracting corporation, MTCC has been contracted with the shore protection rectification project of Shaviyani atoll Komandoo and the connectivity project of Mathi Komandoo. State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has successfully concluded a managerial training program aimed at the middle-management employees of the corporation. The participants were awarded with certificate of completion for successfully following through the program. According to STELCO the program was oriented to focus on three major areas of corporate management which included; leadership skills, people skills and project management skills. The programs ran through three participant batches with a total of 45 employees from middle-management hierarchy participating in them. A group of journalists from Japan arrived in Maldives on the invitation of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) as part of the corporation’s tourism familiarization trip series. Maldives government earned a total of MVR2.03 billion for the month of December 2021 as per the latest updates confirmed by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA). According to the publication, a total of 105.48 million out of the total state revenue for the review month were collected in United States Dollar (USD). This revenue collection in the review month is a 95.0% increment when compared with the same month in 2020 while MIRA claimed that the increment is resultant of surges in the collection of tax revenue sources such as; TGST, GGST, Green Tax and Airport Taxes. State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) announced that the corporation will be able to complete the upgrading works of Fulidhoo power distribution network before the end of January 2022. Under the project, STELCO will reportedly install 1,807 meters of power cables under ground which will be utilized to expand the network. Earlier, STELCO had installed a new STW300 generator in the island which is currently operational, incrementing the total power output capacity of Fulidhoo from 499 kiloWatts (kW) to 779 kiloWatts (kW). According to the most recent statistical updates from Ministry of Tourism, the Maldives has attracted a total of 24,527 tourists as of 05th January 2022. Velana International Airport (VIA) reports of a record air traffic movement in 02nd January 2022. According to the primary international air gateway of the Maldives, the airport recorded a total of 826 movements on Sunday earlier this week.
