Fenaka Corporation has reported a profit of MVR 7.4 million in 2024 second quarter. While speaking at the press conference on Thursday, Muaz Rasheed, the Managing Director of Fenaka, said the company was at a loss of MVR 24.7 million when the current management took charge of the company in the final quarter last year. The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Group of Earth Observations (GEO) to commence “The Global Ecosystem Atlas Accelerator for the Maldives” project. The tourist arrivals to the Maldives so far this year is up 9.9% compared to last year. According to the Ministry of Tourism, from January 1 to July 27, the Maldives attracted a total of 1,159,808 arrivals, compared to 1,055,031 arrivals in the same period last year. From July 1 to 27, the Maldives attracted 144,279 tourists, which is a 15.0% increment compared to the corresponding period last year, during which the country attracted 125,424. Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) and the National Hotel and Guesthouse Association of Maldives (NHGAM) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Sunday to effectively promote Maldives tourism. The Maldives has jumped nine ranks in the Henley Passport Index to secure the South Asian region’s most powerful passport spot for the fourth consecutive year. As per the Henley Passport Index, which reviews the visa-free access of passports to different countries, the Maldives is now ranked 52nd globally, which is a significant improvement from its 61st spot last year.
