Dhiraagu and Women in Tech Maldives have announced the successful completion of the ‘Girls to Code’ Haa Alif Dhidhdhoo Edition.

This transformative programme empowers local young girls in Dhidhdhoo with essential coding skills in HTML, CSS, Flask and Python. The programme was conducted over a period of two months.

The Girls to Code HA. Dhidhdhoo Edition was designed for girls aged 10 to 13 years, with the goal of inspiring them to pursue opportunities in technology and address the gender gap in the industry. Over the course of the two months, 20 participants with no prior experience in coding, developed practical skills, ultimately creating their own websites by the end of the programme.

“We believe that the Girls to Code programme empowers young girls to acquire essential skills, ignite interest from an early age, build confidence in their abilities, and find inspiration to explore the tech field further,” said Bishaara Hameed, Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility at Dhiraagu.

Meanwhile, the President of Women in Tech Maldives, Nahza Ibrahim said, “Watching these young girls embrace coding with such enthusiasm and dedication has been truly inspiring. They’ve shown us that with the right support and opportunities, there is no limit to what they can achieve. We hope that this programme not only equips them with technical skills but also sparks a lifelong passion for learning and innovation that will carry them forward into promising futures.”
