President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the Maldives National Defence Force’s (MNDF) steadfast role in defending the nation amidst evolving global dynamics, underscoring its continued duty to uphold peace, sovereignty, and the dignity of the Maldivian people.

Delivering an official address on the occasion of the 133rd anniversary of the MNDF, President Muizzu emphasized that the force remains a critical pillar in protecting both the Maldivian state and its citizens against all forms of threats.

Reflecting on the country’s history, the President highlighted that the Maldives has maintained its independence under a unified government due in large part to the dedication and sacrifices of those committed to preserving the nation’s sovereignty. He credited the MNDF as a key contributor to this enduring legacy.

“The Maldives remains an independent homeland today because of the tireless efforts of those who stood guard over our nation’s unity,” President Muizzu stated. “The MNDF has been at the heart of this mission, continuously working to ensure national security.”

He further praised MNDF personnel for placing the needs of the nation above personal interests, noting their readiness to serve in moments of crisis with unwavering loyalty and selflessness.

Commending their enduring resolve and patriotism, President Muizzu expressed full confidence that the country’s independence and sovereignty would remain intact as long as the MNDF’s devotion to duty endures.

In a separate message posted on his official X account, the President conveyed his congratulations to the MNDF on its anniversary. He remarked that the foundation of every national achievement rests on the country’s continued independence—crediting the MNDF’s passion, sacrifice, and determination for keeping the flame of Maldivian freedom alive.
