This marks President Muizzu’s first official visit to Malaysia, underscoring the growing importance of the Maldives–Malaysia relationship.

Accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials, the visit aims to deepen longstanding diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries. During his stay, President Muizzu will hold official talks with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation, discussing regional and global developments, and identifying new opportunities for strategic partnership.

A key highlight of the visit will be the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and Exchange of Notes, signalling joint commitments in areas of mutual interest and development.

President Muizzu will also participate in a Business Forum organised by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, where he is expected to engage with top Malaysian investors to discuss investment opportunities in the Maldives.

As part of his itinerary, the President will visit the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), where he will deliver a special lecture, reinforcing the Maldives’ commitment to educational collaboration and shared cultural values.

Demonstrating his commitment to the Maldivian diaspora, President Muizzu will also meet with Maldivians residing in Malaysia. He will use the opportunity to listen to their concerns, understand their experiences abroad, and explore practical ways to enhance their well-being and strengthen their connection to the homeland.
