Putrajaya – His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu of the Maldives and His Excellency Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, held official talks today at Putra Perdana in Putrajaya as part of President Muizzu’s ongoing official visit to Malaysia.

The discussions, led by President Muizzu and Prime Minister Anwar, focused on enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors and reaffirming the strong ties between the two nations. President Muizzu expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and generous hospitality extended by the Malaysian government and emphasised the importance of maintaining positive momentum in bilateral relations to foster mutual growth and a lasting partnership.

During the talks, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim acknowledged the key areas for collaboration identified by President Muizzu and reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to exploring these opportunities to further solidify the relationship between the two countries.

Prime Minister Anwar also highlighted the series of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) scheduled to be signed during the visit, noting that these initiatives would significantly benefit both nations and help open new avenues for cooperation.

President Muizzu, in turn, expressed appreciation for Malaysia’s flexible visa arrangements for Maldivian citizens and stressed the importance of adopting Malaysian innovations to support the Maldives’ digital development efforts. He outlined his hope to deepen collaboration in Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity, citing the mutual benefits such partnerships would bring.

Both leaders expressed optimism that the Maldives-Malaysia relationship will continue to grow stronger in the years ahead.

Following the official talks, President Muizzu witnessed the formal exchange of several key MoUs and Exchanges of Notes between the two governments, marking another milestone in the countries’ longstanding diplomatic relationship.
