President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has called on parents and the wider community to focus on nurturing a generation of children who are not only skilled but also possess a strong sense of work ethic. His remarks came during a national address in which he laid out a broader vision for employment, education, and economic growth in the Maldives.

Emphasising that no Maldivian should be left without access to meaningful employment, President Muizzu highlighted the pivotal role played by the nation’s workforce in driving progress. He expressed pride in the daily contributions of workers across the country and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to listening to the public’s needs and creating opportunities that increase income and economic mobility.

A key element of the President’s speech was the role of education in shaping the nation’s future. He stressed the importance of evolving the education system to include practical skills and lessons in work ethics, ensuring that young people are well-equipped to enter and succeed in the workforce.

In a nod to the spiritual dimensions of labour, President Muizzu reminded citizens of Islamic teachings on work, urging every Muslim to embrace employment in line with their abilities and courage. He echoed the guidance of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), reinforcing that work is not merely an obligation but a virtue.

President Muizzu praised the nation’s workers, acknowledging their tireless efforts and the critical role they play in building the Maldives. “The essence of our society lies in our active workforce,” he said, offering heartfelt gratitude to those who have contributed to national development.

Looking ahead, the President’s message serves as a call to action: to view work not just as a means of livelihood, but as a path to personal growth and national success. His vision aligns closely with the country’s goals of sustainable development and long-term prosperity.

In closing, President Muizzu urged all Maldivians to instil in future generations a strong work ethic, practical skills, and a deep sense of purpose—values that will drive the nation forward.
