    Chinese Ambassador Presents Credentials to President Muizzu, Reaffirms Strong Bilateral Ties

    Ambassador Kong Xianhua reaffirms China’s commitment to Maldives following a ceremonial welcome and credential presentation at the President’s Office.

    His Excellency Kong Xianhua, the newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Maldives, officially presented his Letters of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a formal ceremony held this morning at the President’s Office.

    Ambassador Kong was ceremonially escorted from Republic Square to the President’s Office in a traditional “Haiykolhu” cultural procession, accompanied by the MNDF Drum and Trumpet Band, reflecting the importance of the diplomatic occasion.

    After the presentation of credentials, President Muizzu warmly welcomed the Ambassador to the Maldives and held discussions on areas of mutual interest. During the meeting, Ambassador Kong reaffirmed China’s continued support for the Maldives, especially in addressing its pressing development needs. He also conveyed the importance Maldives holds for the President of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Xi Jinping, highlighting the enduring strength of bilateral relations.

    Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and China were formally established on October 14, 1972, marking over five decades of cooperation and friendship between the two nations.
