The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) successfully conducted comprehensive familiarization tours for 45 stakeholders including 36 airlines.

The familiarization tours were conducted in preparation for the opening of the new passenger terminal at Velana International Airport (VIA), scheduled to commence operations on July 26, 2025 – coinciding with the Maldives Independence Day.

These tours focused on the new terminal’s facilities and operations, ensuring seamless service delivery without any operational disruptions. The sessions were part of ORAT procedures and protocols required before the terminal’s official opening.

The familiarization tours covered a broad spectrum of aviation industry participants, that included airlines operating in the Maldives, general aviation agents, relevant government agencies, resort representatives, taxi operators, guesthouse associations, and MACL staff members.

To date, MACL have conducted familiarization tours for 36 airlines, seven General Aviation Agents, Maldives Immigration, Maldives National Air Traffic Services, and over 1000 MACL employees.
