The Maldives has been crowned Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination for the sixth consecutive year at the World Travel Awards (WTA).
Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives) the official tourism body of the island nation recently confirmed this achievement, along with the recognition of Indian Ocean’s Leading Green Destination at the WTA Indian Ocean Category. This is the second time Maldives has won this particular accolade, with the first one in 2024.
The accolades were received by the CEO and Managing Director of MMPRC, Ibrahim Shiuree.
Speaking about this achievement, Shiuree said the accolades were a significant highlight for the Maldives.
“They highlight the Maldives’ position as an unmatched tourist destination, underscore our nation’s dedication to providing unforgettable experiences for visitors globally, and affirm MMPRC’s ongoing efforts to promote and develop our tourism sector,” Shiuree added.
Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards is a globally recognized honors program in the travel and tourism industry.
