Tianjin, China – President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China this morning at the Tianjin Yingbin Hotel, where the two leaders held high-level discussions aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations.
President Xi warmly welcomed President Dr. Muizzu and expressed appreciation for his official visit to China, noting its importance in deepening the long-standing friendship between the two nations. In response, President Dr. Muizzu expressed his delight at visiting China for the second time in an official capacity and extended gratitude to President Xi for the warm invitation and generous hospitality.
The meeting focused on expanding cooperation in key areas, including economic development, trade and investment, security collaboration, and people-to-people exchanges. President Xi reiterated China’s strong commitment to supporting the Maldives in achieving its national development goals and underscored the value of maintaining a results-oriented partnership.
Both leaders agreed to elevate China-Maldives relations under the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership (2024–2028), aiming to create more opportunities for collaboration and mutual growth.
The meeting concluded with both Presidents reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation and advancing mutual interests in the years ahead.
