    Maldives attracts over 400,000 tourists so far in 2026

    According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, tourist arrivals to the Maldives so far this year has surpassed 400,000.

    This represents a significant growth compared to the corresponding period last year.

    As per the data from the ministry, Maldives has welcomed a total of 418,034 tourists as of February 21, 2026. This is a 9.5% increment compared to the 381,870 arrivals recording during the same period in the previous year.

    The tourism ministry data also reveals that the country currently sees an average daily influx of approximately 8000 visitors.

    In terms of accommodation preferences, resorts remain the most popular choice among visitors, hosting 283,272 tourists. Meanwhile, guesthouses welcomed 111,390 visitors during this period.

    Additionally, the ministry’s records show that 12,021 tourists stayed in hotels, while 8,473 visitors opted for safaris or tourist vessels. Moreover, 2,878 guests arrived via other means, including cruise liners.

    Top Tourist Markets:

    • China: 67,185
    • Russia: 46,636
    • Italy: 40,345
    • UK: 38,162
    • Germany: 24,980
    • India and France: 14,770

    The Maldives government is aiming on attracting 2.5 million travelers in 2026, which based on current data, appears to be a strong possibility.
