The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has signed on as a partner of the Asia Media Summit 2026, the flagship regional broadcasting forum hosted this year by Public Service Media (PSM).

PSM Managing Director Ahmed Shakeeb and HDC’s Acting Director for Corporate Social Responsibility, Hussain Shaheed, formalised the partnership through a signing ceremony.

Under the agreement, HDC will host a series of follow-on activities at Kudagiri once the summit concludes. The Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIDB) organises the summit annually, and PSM has secured hosting rights for this edition.

Shakeeb confirmed that several special activities will run at Kudagiri after the summit wraps. He flagged HDC’s central role in a coral planting initiative on the island. Coral restoration, he noted, marks a key step in the country’s wider environmental conservation push. Furthermore, he said such efforts showcase the Maldives’ sustainability credentials on a global stage.

Shaheed pointed to the commercial upside for HDC. The summit will draw significant international media attention to Kudagiri. Consequently, the partnership opens valuable promotional opportunities for the island as HDC continues to position it within the corporation’s broader development portfolio.

The Asia Media Summit 2026 runs from May 11 to 14, at Villa Nautica Resort. Pre-summit workshops kick off on May 11 with five sessions planned. The official opening follows on May 12.

PSM is now finalising preparations for the gathering, which is expected to bring together around 200 delegates from broadcasting institutions across the Asia-Pacific region.

For HDC, the Asia Pacific Summit 2026 partnership delivers a dual return, a high-visibility platform for Kudagiri and a tangible sustainability anchor through the coral planting programme.
