Applications are now open for the inaugural edition of the “MIB Guesthouse Awards 2026”.

According to the organizer, the Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB), guesthouses can apply across eight main categories to compete for the awards.

The categories open for guesthouses are:

    • Service Excellence and Hospitality: for guesthouses providing the highest standard of hospitality and service quality
    • Authentic Maldivian Experience: for guesthouses that best showcase Maldivian culture, cuisine, and traditions
    • Island Excursions and Experiences: for providers offering safe and exceptional maritime activities and island tours
    • Culinary Experience: for guesthouses offering outstanding dining services with an emphasis on Maldivian flavors
    • Eco-Friendly Award: recognizes the properties prioritizing environmental protection, waste reduction, and energy conservation
    • Community Impact Award: for properties contributing to the island’s social and economic growth and creating job opportunities
    • Digital Presence Award: for guesthouses successfully utilizing social media and digital platforms for business promotion
    • Iconic Marine and Dive Experience Award: for providers delivering safe and eco-friendly underwater and diving activities

MIB affirms these awards will be judged transparently, based on submitted evidence and documentation. To ensure fair competition among different scales of properties, the bank decided to evaluate awards by dividing participants into two tiers based on room count:

    • Tier 1: Designated for small guesthouses with 3 to 10 rooms
    • Tier 2: Designated for guesthouses with 11 rooms and above

Additional information regarding the awards is available on the bank’s official website.
