The government has pushed back the Housing for All deadline to June 15 at 23:59hrs, giving applicants extra time to file for land and flats under the national scheme.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, the extension answers concerns raised by the public. Many applicants are traveling during the Eid holidays, and government offices remain closed for part of this period. As a result, several residents had struggled to collect the documents needed for their submissions.
Why the ministry moved the date
Officials say the earlier cut-off left little room for families juggling Eid travel and papework. The new Housing for All deadline is meant to ease that pressure give every eligible person a fair shot at applying.
The ministry urged applicants to fill in their forms carefully and to upload every required document through the official portal. Crucially, officials also stressed that the submission process must be fully completed; half-finished forms will not count.
What the scheme offers
In total, the programme covers 15,000 plots of land and 7,900 housing units. The flats are split between Male’ residents and people from other islands who currently live in the capital.
The breakdown:
- 4,000 flats reserved for Male’ residents
- 1,500 flats for applicants from other islands living in Male’
- 2,400 flats allocated under specific categories for city residents and special groups
Final reminder for applicants
Applicants are encouraged to act early rather than wait until the final hours before the Housing for All deadline, since the official portal often slows down under heavy traffic close to the cut-off. Submitting in good time also leaves room to spot and fix any small errors before the window closes at 23:59hrs on June 15.
