Fullbright scholarship Maldives applications are now open. The U.S. Embassy in Malé announced this on May 3, 2026. Maldivian students have until July 16, 2026 to submit their applications.

One Fully Funder Master’s Degree on Offer

The U.S. government offers one fully funded Master’s degree in the United States through the Fulbright Foreign Student Program in Maldives. The scholarship covers tuition, airfare, a living stipend, health insurance, and study materials. It also includes cultural exchange opportunities.

The selected candidates will begin study at a U.S. university in Fall 2027.

    Who Can Apply

The program targets Maldivian nationals. Applicants must meet the following requirement:

    • Hold Maldivian citizenship and currently reside in the Maldives
    • Hold a first degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent)
    • Demonstrate English language proficiency
    • Submit an online application that includes a detailed study plan and professional recommendations

Applicants must complete and submit the application online. Three reference letters are required.

The Fulbright Foreign Student Program operates in more than 160 countries. Approximately 4,000 foreign students receive Fulbright scholarships each year.

    Information Session on June 8

The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development has flagged an online information session on June 8, 2026. Prior registration is required to attend. The session will cover program details, eligibility, and the application process.

    Travel Caveats

Prospective Fulbright participants should note that public health conditions, availability of consular services and travel, as well as U.S. institutional operating status and policies may affect their ability to travel to the U.S. and participate in academic programs.

    How to Apply

Applicants can access the online application portal at apply.iie.org/ffsp2027. The U.S. Embassy recommends downloading and reading the full program announcement, eligibility requirements, and application checklist before starting.

The deadline is July 16, 2026. The U.S. Embassy does not accept late submissions.
