    Maldives President Acknowledges UK’s Role in Economic Progress

    Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appreciated the United Kingdom for its continued support and assistance in the Maldives’ socio-economic development.

    In a letter congratulating Andrew Burnham on assuming office as UK’s Prime Minister. Burnham is the 59th Prime Minister of the UK, and seventh to assume the office in 10 years.

    President Muizzu in his letter, extended wishes for Burnham’s success in his new role. He reaffirmed the deep value the Maldivian government places on the long-standing historic ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, describing the relationship as one built on shared principles of upholding democratic values, defending human rights and promoting people-to-people connections.

    The Maldivian President also conveyed sincere appreciation for the significant contribution made by the UK government towards the country’s socio-economic development in recent years.

    President Muizzu further expressed his eagerness to work closely with the newly elected UK Prime Minister in strengthening the enduring partnership between the Maldives and the UK. He also conveyed hope to meet Prime Minister Burnham in the near future to explore avenues of collaboration for the mutual benefit of the people of both nations.

    In the concluding remarks, President Muizzu extended his personal best wishes to the UK Prime Minister for his good health and wellbeing, and for the continued peace and progress for the people of the United Kingdom.
