The Business Centre Corporation (BCC) has said that more than 800 forms have been submitted by the time the deadline closed for the competitive category of this year’s national productivity and innovation exposition.
Speaking on the programme aired on state media, BCC’s Assistant Director for Strategic Development and Regional Services, Areesha Moosa, said that this year’s expo has been receiving a considerably greater response than that of last year, and that upwards of 800 applications had been received as at the closing of the said deadline.
Areesha said that they had received a strong response across all 8 fields opened for participation, and that the greatest number of applications had come from the individuals category. She added that preparations are already underway, to open participation in the various districts of the expo.
How large is the event expected to be?
BCC’s Assistant General Manager for Marketing and International Relations, Mohamed Eeman Ahmed, said that participation across the whole of the expo is estimated to climb north of 1,000 parties.
Eeman also added that this year’s expo will comprise seven districts compared to the five last year.
What is on show?
The Dhivehinge Ufehdhuntherikamuge Maurazu, the national exposition of Maldivian productivity, is the largest exhibition organized for the purpose of bringing together the output of the country’s producers and craftspeople in a single venue and affording them the opportunity to market it.
Participants will have the opportunity to display their products and services across 73 categories drawn from a total of 16 fields.
Besides individual participants, this year’s edition will feature state-owned enterprises, associations and civil society organizations along with various educational institutions.
The expo is slated from October 23 to 31 at the Hulhumalé Central Park.
