    MTCC signs contract on developing harbors in two islands

    Maldives state contracts MTCC for two new harbor development projects

    Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has signed up contracts with Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (MNPHI) towards the design and development of two harbors at Haa Alif Muraidhoo and Laamu atoll Gan.

    While the contractor will fully design and develop the harbor at Muraidhoo, MTCC will be upgrading the Thundi harbor at Gan.

    MTCC Chief Executive Mr. Adam Azim signed the agreements on behalf of the contractor company while Ms. Fathimath Shaana Farooq signed on behalf of the ministry.

    Meanwhile, the signing ceremony held to contract the harbor upgrading project for Laamu atoll Gan was graced by Minister of Finance Mr. Ibrahim Ameer and Gan constituency lawmaker Mr. Mohamed Wisam.

    Project scope for the design and development of Muraidhoo harbor involves dredging and excavation operations along with the construction of a breakwater, groyne, revetment and a quay wall measuring 407 meters, 50 meters, 105 meters and 212 meters respectively.

    Additional components of the project involve construction of a 9 meters by 9 meters ramp along with the construction of a 2 meters by 15 meters walkway bridge, installation of harbor pavement measuring 1,703.61 square meters and the installation of harbor lights.

    The Muraidhoo harbor development project reportedly costs MVR33.72 million with a completion duration of 365 days.

    On the other hand, the harbor upgrading at Laamu atoll Gan involve dredging and excavation operations along with construction of harbor structures including a breakwater and a quay wall measuring 488 meters and 310 meters respectively.

    Furthermore, MTCC will be construction a 25 meters by 3 meters bridge along with installation of harbor pavement in an area of 1,550 square meters as well as the installation of harbor lights.

    The harbor upgrade project is reportedly worth MVR24.71 million with a project completion duration of 365 days.
