    State expenditure reaches MVR19.3bn, deficit stretches to MVR7.1bn

    The cumulative total of state expenditure has reached MVR19,326.7 million (MVR19.3 billion) as of 09th September 2021, according to Ministry of Finance.

    Moreover, the state body in their latest Weekly Fiscal Developments revealed that the cumulative total of state revenue has reached MVR12,208.0 million (MVR12.2 billion), inclusive of foreign grants.

    As for the compositions, 78% of the total expenditure was concentrated to recurrent needs and the remaining 22% on capital expenses.

    On the other hand, 73% of the total revenues came through tax sources and the remaining 27% came from non-tax sources.

    The overall balance for the period is a deficit of MVR7,118.7 million (MVR7.1 billion), meanwhile the net issuance for the review week from 05th to 09th September was a surplus of MVR3,080.0 million (MVR3.1 billion) and the external Islamic instruments of MVR3,080.0 million (MVR3.1 billion) were issued.

    Furthermore, the cumulative total of tax revenues as of 09th September reached MVR8,957.5 million (MVR8.96 billion) and the cumulative total of non-tax revenues hit MVR2,857.0 million (MVR2.86 billion).
