    State expenditure cross over MVR20.2bn, deficit at MVR7.7bn

    State expenditure reaches over MVR20.2bn, deficit hits MVR7.7bn

    The cumulative total of state expenditure has reached MVR20,219.4 million (MVR20.2 billion) as of 16th September, reports Ministry of Finance.

    Moreover, the state body confirms that the cumulative total of state revenues inclusive of grants have reached MVR12,535.2 million (MVR12.5 billion) by the review period.

    The expenditure composition confirms 76% of the total spending were concentrated towards recurrent expenses and the remaining 24% on capital expenses. On the other hand, revenue composition reveals that 73% of the total came from tax sources and the remaining 27% from non-tax sources.

    Furthermore, the overall balance for the review period is a deficit of MVR7,684.1 million (MVR7.7 billion).

    Meanwhile, the net issuance for the week from 12th to 16th September was a surplus of MVR233.66 million.

    The cumulative total of tax revenues as of the review period is MVR9,151.3 million (MVR9.2 billion) while the cumulative total of non-tax revenues by the review period stood at MVR2,987.3 million (MVR2.99 billion).

    In addition to this, the Maldives government has received MVR392.6 million in foreign grants.

    On the other hand, the total recurrent expenditure stood at MVR15,464.5 million (MVR15.5 billion) while the capital expenditure reached MVR4,754.9 million (MVR4.8 billion) as of 16th September.
