    STELCO signs to provide electricity to main airport island

    STELCO to provide electricity to Velana International Airport venue

    State Electric Company (STELCO) signed an agreement with Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) last week to provide power to main airport island of the Maldives – Hulhule’.

    STELCO confirmed the news on Thursday, 06th January 2022 while the agreement was signed between the utility provider’s Managing Director Mr. Hassan Mughnee and the Acting In-Charge of MACL Mr. Ibrahim Thoha.

    At the signing ceremony, Mr. Mughnee emphasized on STELCO’s dedication and commitment to answering the requirements of the public and nation as a whole. Furthermore, he also asserted that the utility provider is one of the foremost contributors to the country’s growth and progress.

    Moreover, the STELCO front-man had acknowledged the support and assistance received by MACL on several occasions in past.

    Meanwhile, the current honcho of MACL noted on several ongoing and prospective developmental projects at Velana International Airport for which, Mr. Thoha said that the airport management company required assistance from a utility provider.

    Under the agreement, Hulhule’ will receive electricity from STELCO through the Greater Male’ Inter-connectional Grid – which is the largest ever such project executed in the Maldives so far.
