Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, 20th April 2022, announced the bid submission window for interested developers for a housing development project in Shaviyani atoll Komandoo.

According to the ministry, the project includes development of 30 housing units in the local residential island. The ministry opened bid submission window on Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure’s request.

Bid opening has been scheduled for 23rd May 2022 at 11:00hrs at the Event Hall of National Tender.

Moreover, the fixed bid security of the project is MVR150,000 according to the ministry and the bid security submission period is 148 days from the date of bid opening.

In addition to this, interested developers must pay a non-refundable registration fee of MVR500 to submit bid proposals and the ministry will start accepting payments for registration from 19th May 2022, everyday between 08:00hrs and 14:00hrs. Payments can be made through the state’s official payment portal.

The housing project was announced by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih as a pledge to resolve the scarcity of housing in the island, which according to the locals has been prevalent for nearly three decades.

Meanwhile, in order to counter land scarcity, the previous administration had initiated and completed a land reclamation project in an area of 10 hectares from the island’s lagoon.
