Bank of Maldives (BML) on Monday, 23rd May, announced the launch of its new BML Pay wallet on Mobile Banking app.

According to the bank, with the new upgrade, contactless payment services and wallet-to-wallet transfer services are now available through the mobile banking application.

The new functionality allows customers to facilitate payments through the BML mobile banking app with a Scan to Pay feature for faster and secure payment experiences. Additionally, the feature allows customers to send money to friends and family using just their mobile numbers.

Speaking about this new service upgrade, the bank’s CEO and Managing Director Tim Sawyer said, “Last year, we introduced our Mobile Banking App with a new look and extra features to provide customers secure and seamless banking experience. Today we have integrated our digital wallet and payment functions to the mobile app enabling customers to bank and pay through a single app.”

He also noted that customers can use the Scan to Pay feature, or if they use NFC-enabled smartphones then they can simply Tap to Pay directly from the app to merchants across the country.

“With today’s upgrade, our Mobile Banking app is the only wallet customers need. Across the world, mobile based contactless payments are among the most secure and fastest modes of payments and we are proud to introduce this on our app”, Mr. Sawyer added.

Furthermore, the BML CEO assured of the bank’s commitment towards investing in new technology to deliver better banking experiences to the expanding customer base.
