    BML alerts customers on scam calls

    Bank of Maldives cautions customers against scam calls

    Bank of Maldives (BML) has once again stressed its customers to remain vigilant owing to new wave of scam calls.

    The bank has advised its customers against sharing sensitive information with individuals calling under various pretexts. BML stressed out its policies regarding contacting individual customers.

    According to BML, the bank will not contact its customers requesting sensitive information related to personal banking accounts.

    Public Relations Manager of the bank, Mohamed Saeed had warned against the scam calls. He had noted on several customers losing significant amounts from their savings.

    Scammers often contact via direct phone calls, or via phishing mails. The mails often come with hyperlinks, which are in reality used to gain ‘back-door’ access into the personal laptops or devices of customers on which their bank login credentials are often stored.

    The scammers then use these credentials to siphon off funds from the accounts of their victims.

    Scammers recently contact victims on the pretext of “winning” flats or row-houses in Hulhumale’.
