    Import revenue up by 56% in July 2022

    Maldives Customs report imports increased by 56% in July 2022

    Maldives Customs Service report its import revenues, inclusive of fuel shot up by 56% in July 2022.

    According to the authority, Customs revenue for the review month went up 31% to hit MVR316 million. The authority collected MVR1.5 million in royalties.

    Inclusive of fuel, imports hit MVR4.3 billion. Exclusive of fuel, import value is at MVR3.3 billion, a 44% increment.

    Exports amount to MVR78 million for the month, up by 52%.

    Top import commodities include food items, MVR5.6 billion, fuel, MVR919 million, machinery and mechanical appliances, MVR734 million. Other major import commodities include base metal and articles, MVR430 million and products of chemical or allied industries, MVR249 million.

    Major import destinations include Oman, MVR797 million (19%), India, MVR698 million (16%), UAE, MVR550 million (13%), China, MVR493 million (12%) and Singapore, MVR343 million (8%).

    On the export front, top export commodities include skipjack tuna, MVR40 million and skipjack tuna/stripe-bellied bonito (frozen), MVR14 million. Other top commodities include flours, meals and pallets of fish, MVR4 million and yellowfin tuna chunk (fresh or chilled), MVR4 million.

    Major export destinations include Germany, MVR21 million (27%), UK, MVR18 million (23%) and Mauritius, MVR13 million (16%).
