Addu City Council has revealed its decision to issue a total of 298 land plots from the city’s Feydhoo island; nearly a decade since plots were issued from the island.
Magudhoo district’s council member of Feydhoo, Ms. Aminath Salma had spoken to a local news media on Tuesday, 11th October, claiming a total of 320 land plots were planned for issuance under the first land use plan.
After the plan was submitted to Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (MNPHI) for approval, the ministry instructed to exclude certain plots that have been declared as green zones.
“The land use plan was amended and submitted on three occasions,” Ms. Salma, said as there were requirements for multiple revisions on the plan.
The plan has now been approved, which was done under five days. According to the council member, the plots will be issued before the end of the current council’s term in 2026. She also confirms the plots will be issued under several phases. The plan includes issuance of 75 plots towards the development of housing flats.
Ms. Salma underscored that administrative work regarding the land use issuance was currently in progress, and noted that the work will be completed soon.
