    State contracts Ukulhas road development, Magoodhoo airport development projects to MTCC

    Government contracts MTCC for multiple developmental projects

    Maldives government has contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) for multiple developmental projects. The projects include;

    1. Road construction project at AA. Ukulhas
    2. Airport development project at F. Magoodhoo

    Signing for the projects took pace on Wednesday, 19th October 2022. MTCC CEO Adam signed on behalf of the contractor, while the Director General of Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (MNPHI) Fathimath Shana Shafeeq signed on behalf of the state.

    Ukulhas Road Construction Project

    Project scope involves development of 10 roads spanning 2,678 meters. Sewerage and drainage systems will be installed, along with sedimentary tank and cable junction box installations. Other components include installing 4,193 square meters of pavement, development of 14,452 meters of carriageway.

    Additional components include installation of road signs, street lights, zebra crossings, speed breaker installations.

    Project total is valued at MVR59.48 million, while MTCC is contracted to complete the project under 450 days.

    Magoodhoo Airport Development Project

    Project scope includes installation of a 1,500 meter runway, along with apron and taxiway development. MTCC will lay asphalt on fire-pad and service roads, along with construction of terminal and fire buildings, fire pond installation.

    Additional components include installation of fire extinguishing equipment, security posts and security equipment. Moreover, MTCC will install fences along with an airfield lighting system, navigation lights by the island’s harbor as well as MET equipment and ground handling equipment.

    Project value is reported at MVR231.54 million, with a project completion duration of 550 days.
