    Customs revenue up 11% in November 2022

    Customs revenue up by 11% in November 2022, imports up 15%

    Maldives Customs revenue was up by 11% in November 2022, reports the authority. According to Customs, it collected MVR359 million in gross revenue for the review month.

    Imports, inclusive of fuel, rose to 15% in the review month. Total imports inclusive of fuel stood at MVR4.6 billion. However, imports excluding fuel had gone up only by 4% in the month, which is MVR3.5 billion.

    On the other hand, exports observed a 5% drop, which is a total of MVR168 million worth commodities.

    • Fuel (marine gas – diesel, petrol, aviation gas) – MVR 1 billion
    • Food (excluding pork, alcohol, tobacco) – MVR 816 million
    • Machinery and mechanical appliance (electrical) – MVR 748 million
    • Base metal and articles of base metal – MVR 331 million
    • Mineral products – MVR 264 million

    Major Import Countries

    • Oman – MVR 761 million
    • India – MVR 760 million
    • UAE – MVR 594 million
    • Singapore – MVR 472 million
    • China – MVR 420 million

    Major Export Categories

    • Skipjack tuna stripe-bellied bonito (frozen) – MVR 67 million
    • Skipjack tuna (prepared or preserved) – MVR 37 million
    • Yellowfin tuna (fresh or chilled) – MVR 12 million
    • Yellowfin tuna chunk (fresh or chilled) – MVR11 million
    • Yellowfin tuna loins (fresh or chilled) – MVR8 million

    Major Export Countries

    • Thailand – MVR 59 million
    • Germany – MVR 18 million
    • UK – MVR 14 million
    • USA – MVR 10 million
    • France – MVR 8 million
