SS Network to arrange easy transition for DhiraaguTV customers into its cable TV network

Sun Siyam Media Group announces its newly conceived SS Network will make arrangements for DhiraaguTV customers to shift to their new cable TV service.

SS Network Pvt Ltd, is a recently conceived fully local rebroadcaster that is in line with the amendments brought to Rebroadcasting Regulation (R-1/2022) by Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC).

The local rebroadcaster in a statement said that the opportunity to apply for the cable services will be opened soon and Dhiraagu customers who apply for the services can easily transition into the SS Net services.

SS Network is relaunching the IPTV and OTT services introduced by Dhiraagu through its DhiraaguTV and DhiraaguPlay, after the local telecom and internet service provider found itself at a tight spot following the regulation amendment. The amendments to Rebroadcasting Regulation barred any Maldivian rebroadcaster with foreign stake from receiving the license.

Dhiraagu has 52% of its stake owned by Bahrain Telecommunication Company (Batelco), which hinders it from providing its DhiraaguTV services based on the regulations.

However, the situation found resolve after both Dhiraagu and SS Network arrived at an agreement to shift the former’s services into the latter’s network.

SS Network reportedly is preparing to offer the cable TV services across Maldives with a mix of popular and brand new channels.
