State Trading Organization (STO) has prepared to ensure continued service to consumers ahead of Ramadan.

The largest state-owned enterprise (SOE), also the major importer and distributor of staple foods and high-demand perishables such as potatoes, onions, and eggs confirmed its shipment has already arrived before March 2023.

Apart from ensuring continued supply of potato, onion and eggs to consumers, STO has also significantly dropped the retail prices on them as well.

STO will be selling a kilo of potato for MVR11 and a bag for MVR250, a kilo of onion for MVR9 and a bag for MVR180. Moreover, eggs individually will be sold at MVR1.75 (per egg) while a case will be sold for MVR320.

STO further confirmed that it will bring a total of six shipments throughout Ramadan; the first of which arrived earlier on 27th February 2023. Moreover, STO has already made the items available from 28th February onward at its STO People’s Choice and other wholesale outlets.

Wholesale items will be sold exclusively from three venues which include STO Wholesale Center and STO Industrial Village. However, trade of wholesale items from STO Industrial Village will begin from 05th March 2023, while the STO Roadha Mart at Hulhumale’ will begin services effectively from 20th march 2023 onward.

Additionally, STO said that it will be delivering the perishables to 11 of its regional outlets across various atolls. The regional outlets will be responsible with delivering the items to other islands in the area.
