The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has unveiled its new official corporate identity; Urbanco.
Urbanco, the former HDC unveiled its new look at the ceremony held to commemorate the company’s 22nd anniversary, held last Saturday, 01st April.
The company went through a major rebranding effort which included a corporation wide shift of its new objectives and development. The former HDC removed its previous name plates in favor of the new Urbanco signs, already installed on its headquarters.
“We have unveiled our corporation’s new identity as we head towards redefinition and building a world of better tomorrows for the people of Maldives,” Urbanco said.
Urbanco, which has operated as HDC for more than two decades began in 2001. The corporation was founded to alleviate the housing concerns concentrated in Male’ City, and shift social, residential, and commercial housing to Hulhumale’.
For the past 22 years, HDC has led the transformative journey of Hulhumale’; a once barren synthetic island into a metropolitan-like satellite town teeming with life and commerce.
With a complete overhaul, Urbanco now said it is planning to expand its operations outside of Greater Male’ region. Urbanco revealed it will begin seeking potential infrastructural development projects in various atolls, work with local councils and other relevant bodies for initiative housing projects.
Besides managing all aspects of housing, infrastructure, and urbanization of Hulhumale’, Urbanco also manages the development of Thilafushi Phase 2.
