    State revenues inclusive of grants increase 117% in February 2023

    The state revenues and grants for February 2023 is MVR4,081.6 million (MVR4.2 billion), a 117.0% percent rise compared to the same month in 2022, reported the Ministry of Finance.

    According to the ministry, the total expenditure for the month increased by 5.1% compared to the same month last year. Capital expenditure declined by 5.1% whereas recurrent expenditure observed a 14.5% increment.

    The fiscal balance for the month gives an overall deficit of MVR739.7 million.

    Revenues and Grants

    • Tax Revenues: MVR1,792.5 million (MVR1.8 billion)
    • Non-tax Revenues: MVR639.6 million
    • Proceeds from Sale of Assets: MVR0.2 million
    • Grants: MVR3.1 million

    Expenditure

    • Recurrent Expenditure: MVR2,387.2 million (MVR2.4 billion)
    • Capital Expenditure: MVR787.8 million
    Recurrent Expenditure
    • Administrative and Operational Expenses: MVR1,347.3 million (MVR1.3 billion)
    • Salaries, Wages, and Pensions: MVR946.8 million
    • Losses and Write-Offs: MVR93.1 million
    Capital Expenditure
    • Land and Building: MVR304.8 million
    • Infrastructure Assets: MVR278.2 million
    • Lending: MVR132.0 million
    • Development Projects and Investments Outlays: MVR37.9 million
    • Capital Equipment: MVR34.9 million
