Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) announced that they will charge MVR35.00 for bundles of standard-size bags for waste collection.
The sale of bin liners will start on Thursday, 27th April 2023, customers can purchase it from the front office of WAMCO’s main building and from the customer front offices of its waste transfer stations in Male’, Vilimale’, and Hulhumale’.
Bin liner Prices
- Normal (L Size) bin liners (17-inch): MVR35 – bundle of 100 bags
- Size XXL (27-inch): MVR165
- Size XXXL (48-inch): MVR165
The Maldives government began charging a fee of MVR2.00 on plastic bags under the Waste Management Act last week.
The Act provides exemptions which includes bin liners sold by waste management companies, as well as bags used for packing fresh and raw fish or fish products, and bags issued by duty-free shops.
