Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL) has announced that the first night landing test flight has successfully landed in Kulhudhuffushi Airport.

According to RACL, it had installed a night landing system before the test flight. The company added that with the system, the airport will now transition into a 24-hours operational venue.

The company further said that this new service introduction was part of RACL’s objectives to expand the services of Kulhudhuffushi Airport.

RACL further highlighted that with the introduction of night landing in Kulhudhuffushi Airport, the locals of the island and surrounding islands will greatly benefit from it. The company also noted that with the airport becoming operational 24/7, medical emergency flights can now embark or disembark from or to the airport.

Moreover, businesses such as wholesale and retail traders, guesthouses, and resorts will have increased benefit with regards to their logistical requirements.

Besides Kulhudhuffushi Airport, RACL is currently working on installing night landing systems in both Hoarafushi Airport and Maavarulu Airport. The company added that the night landing systems in both airports will be fully installed within a month’s duration.

With the introduction of night landing service in Kulhudhuffushi Airport, RACL currently manages four airports with the service including Hanimaadhoo International Airport, Faresmaathoda Airport, and Fuvahmulah Airport.
