    Solar power projects in 20 islands

    Government announces installation of solar PV systems in 20 local islands

    Maldives government has announced installation of 20MWp solar PV systems in 20 inhabited islands in the Maldives under Public-Private Partnership model.

    The project is carried out with the support from Asian Development Bank (ADB), and is part of the Accelerating Sustainable System Development Using Renewable Energy (ASSURE) Project; which will support capital intense investments (battery energy storage, grid upgrades, and energy management systems) to support renewable energy development.

    The Ministry of Finance has invited interested bidders to submit for the project. The ministry will conduct International Competitive Bidding (ICB) according to the Public Finance Regulations.

    Interested bidders are required to register with the ministry from 14th May to 10th August 2023 by;

    • Payment of non-refundable registration fee of MVR3,000.00 or USD200.00 through Bandeyri Pay online payment portal, or by electric transfer designated to bank account.
    • Once payment is confirmed, the bidder will be registered upon submitting the name and address of the bidder, name, email address and contact number of the contact person, and a copy of the payment/transaction receipt.

    A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for 01st June, where details of the project will be provided to the bidders. Any clarifications on the project can be sent via email.

    The bidders are also required to furnish a bid security/bond of USD500,000 (or equivalent in Maldivian Rufiyaa) with a 180-day validity period from the due date.
