The Chief Executive Officer of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) Shahid Ali has assured the company’s employees will be able to live in the housing flats developed in Hulhumale’ Phase II by August’s end.

According to the head honcho of MPL, all the ongoing works in the three housing towers will be completed by the following month’s end. He made the confirmation on Saturday, July 15.

Besides the assurance of possible August handover, MPL CEO also claimed employees will not be charged monthly rent from the flats from the date of their residency until the end of 2023.

Right now, the housing towers have entered its final phase of development which comprises of the installation of utility services and elevators, and finishing works.

MPL’s CEO paid a visit to the site last Thursday for an observation of the towers’ progress.

“We are trying to complete all major works remaining by late or end of July, and hand them over to employees. The contractor assures that full completion of the flats, including finishing works, will conclude by late or end of August, so employees can begin moving in by the end of the next month,” Shahid said while speaking to his staff at the MPL Annual Staff Night held last Thursday.

MPL is nearing the completion of three 15-storey housing towers, which fall under the government’s housing scheme for the employees of state-owned enterprises.
