Maldives President Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has affirmed the Raajje-Transport Link (RTL) integrated national ferry network services will commence in Noonu atoll before 2023 end.

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) led RTL service sees the residential islands in administrative atolls connected via sea transportation. MTCC uses high-speed ferries for the transportation.

Before Noonu atoll, RTL services were launched in upper-northern atolls of Haa Alif and Haa Dhaalu followed by Shaviyani atoll in north. The three atolls come under Phase 1 of the nationwide project which has been distributed into six phases.

“With RTL ferry services, this atoll will observe significant growth. We will procure spacious speedboats. This transition will elevate Noonu atoll’s progress,” President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said.

The president made this remarks during a campaign trip to a Noonu atoll island. He is seeking re-election in the 2023 presidential race.
