The Managing Director of State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) Hussain Fahmy has addressed the importance of a backup power facility to provide electricity for critical infrastructure of Greater Male’ region.
Speaking in this regard, Fahmy said that the power station in Male’ City would become non-operational or either will be transformed into a backup power outlet while the main station would be developed in Thilafushi or any other viable location.
He said that a larger power plant is needed to ensure a more streamlined service; by way of establishing a system to distribute the ‘imported’ power from said plant.
Since taking helm as the front man of STELCO, Fahmy has been seeking all potential avenues to optimize the usage of the powerhouse in Male’ City as well as expand the output and power delivery to the Greater Male’ region without interruptions.
