The Managing Director of State Electric Company (STELCO), Hussain Fahmy, has stressed on the importance of trust and camaraderie among employees and towards customers.

“Without trust, there is no possibility in rendering a service,” Fahmy said.

The utility provider’s front-man made these remarks at the skill development program organized by STELCO targeting the in-charges of the corporation’s powerhouse outlets and units across the Maldives.

While speaking at the event, Fahmy highlighted the importance of trust and camaraderie among colleagues; whether among peers or between senior members and subordinates. He noted that the lack of trust towards a leader would lead to a collective distrust on the individual’s leadership potential and their ability of managing a team, while the senior officials’ distrust towards subordinates would interrupt work delegation and operations at an overall capacity.

“Regardless of the academic qualification, if your senior officer will not be hiring you if there is a lack of trust,” Fahmy said. “And if the subordinates do not trust their superiors, then it is impossible for everyone to work cohesively to render services to people.”

Speaking in this regard, the STELCO MD emphasized on the key objective of the training program, stating it was to strengthen the professional relationships among the senior officials and thereby improve their working relations with subordinates; and create a friendly professional environment for everyone.

A total of 37 senior designate officers participated in the three-day training program.
