Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) Private Limited on Sunday announced its decision to extend discounts to domestic customers.

In a statement from MWSC, the previous month’s billing cycle is from March 11, 2024 to April 11, 2024; for which has extended a collective total of MVR 14.13 million in discounts, which is 24.5% of the total consumption of the domestic category.

MWSC said that the water and electricity charges for Ramadan had varying figures, due to which it decided on extending discounts for the bills issued in Ramadan and for the water used during Ramadan.

If the amount in the discounted March 2024 exceeds than the April 2024 bill, the excess will be deducted from April’s bill. If the deduction is less than 10% of the total billed amount for April, then the discount will be expanded up to the equivalent of 10%.

In cases where the March 2024 is lower than April 2024, it is still subject to the 10% reduction.

Additionally, for new subscribers, if the first billed issued to them is billed in April 2024, they too, are subject to the 10% discount on the bill, MWSC said.
